Salzburg marionette theatre - opera differently
In the middle of Salzburg there is a theater that is almost inconspicuous from the outside. Inside is waiting for Miniature Opera HouseIn which large pieces have been played since 1913. Stage, music and staging work like in a classic opera house, except that here everything from Marionettes worn, which are guided so precisely that the threads are quickly forgotten.
They play classics like The Magic Flute or The Sound of Music – Detailedly staged and amazingly alive. Behind this is its own game technique, which has been passed down over generations and 2016 even by UNESCO as an intangible cultural heritage was awarded.
It is not a typical program item, but rather an experience that is not expected – somewhere between opera, craft and tradition. And that's why it gets stuck.
